Mount Kerinci is part of Kerinci-Seblat National Park (Taman Nasional Kerinci Seblat, TNKS), which is the second-largest national park in Indonesia. This conservation area has an area of approximately 1.3 million hectares. The Kerinci-Seblat National Park, along with Gunung Leuser National Park and Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park, is grouped as the Tropical Rainforest Heritage of Sumatra and was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2004. It is listed by UNESCO because of its outstanding scenic beauty, an outstanding example representing significant ongoing ecological and biological processes, and it contains the most significant natural habitats for in-situ conservation. TNKS is also recognized as an ASEAN Heritage Park.

Enjoy the ambiance and beauty of the tropical rainforest of Sumatra. Along the hiking track, you can see beautiful views of Kerinci nature, which is the habitat of the Sumatran tiger. Often you can also find various kinds of wildlife along the tracks, such as mountain treeshrew, common treeshrew, several kinds of birds, monkeys and apes, and even if you are lucky, you can see Siamang gibbons. At one point, you can see the view of the Bukit Barisan mountain range from above.
